Russia denies recruitment Ethiopians

Ethiopians lined up at the entrance of the Russian Embassy in Addis Ababa

Recently, a large number of Ethiopians lined up at the entrance of the Russian Embassy in Addis Ababa

At the entrance to the Russian embassy in Addis Ababa, images are circulating on social media that many Ethiopians are waiting in line to join Russia to fight Ukraine.

Al-Ain asked the Russian embassy in Addis Ababa about the matter.

"Russia has not advertised for the war in Ukraine, and the information being spread on social media is false," Russian embassy Press attaché Maria Chernukhina told AlAin.

However, the embassy stated that it was true that the Ethiopians had gone to the embassy.

"Ethiopians did not go to the Russian embassy for recruitment, but to show their solidarity with Russia," she said.

However, she added: "Thanks to this, many Ethiopians are informing us by email and in person that they are on Russia's side in the war against Ukraine."

"Ethiopians are doing this because they rely on the long and historic friendship between Ethiopia and Russia," the embassy said.
