“Turkey will support Ethiopia in any way possible” – Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Turkey will provide any kind of support to Ethiopia.

 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan discussed bilateral relations with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in a phone call, the Presidential Communications Directorate said Sunday.

 

According to the president's official twitter account: During a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Turkey will continue to support Ethiopia.

 

"Turkey attaches great importance to Ethiopia's peace and stability during a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister," Anadolu Agency reported, citing the Turkish Communications Directorate.

 

Turkey is one of the largest investors in Ethiopia and Turkish companies have invested $ 2.5 billion in Ethiopia, including textiles and transmission lines.

Turkey is one of the most influential economists in the Middle East's economy and politics.

Meanwhile, the Turkish ambassador to Ethiopia said that Ethiopia and Turkey are strengthening their bilateral relations during talks with Turkish institutions and diplomatic missions in Ethiopia.

"Ethiopia and Turkey are friendly countries and will continue to be friends," the ambassador said.

 

The Turkish embassy in Addis Ababa has denied allegations that Turkey is supplying drones to the Ethiopian military.

 

The embassy's response came after reports that the Ethiopian government had imported Turkish drones were widely circulated on social media.
